Rick R. Olivarez Joins NALEO in Dallas

OMLO Partner and NALEO Board Member, Rick R. Olivarez, was in attendance at NALEO’s 34th Annual Conference held in Dallas, Texas.  Each year, the conference serves as the largest gathering of Latino policymakers in the country, with nearly 1,000 Latino officials and community leaders from across the nation present at the event.

With the recent passing of Senate Bill 4 in Texas, outlawing “sanctuary cities” throughout the state, and ultimately posing a threat towards immigrants, holding the conference in Dallas came at a critical time, allowing Latino leaders to come together in a single venue to discuss how, as a community, they are able to best support immigrants in Texas and across the United States.

Sessions were held throughout the conference, examining policies and legal tools available to assist immigrants, strategies to ensure community members were aware of their rights, and the effects boycotts and other measures can have on state and local economies.

Mr. Olivarez is honored to be a part of an organization that addresses key issues, such as education and workforce development, that will prepare Latinos for the future.
