On September 10, 2014, Olivarez Madruga attorney, Lloyd Pilchen, was honored at the Public Counsel Pro Bono Awards for his work with its Early Care and Education Law Program. Specifically, for spearheading Public Counsel’s work to increase access to early care facilities for children in Southeast Los Angeles. According to their website, every year Public Counsel recognizes pro bono attorneys and volunteers for their free, life-changing legal help to individuals, families and community-based nonprofit organizations and small businesses. Public Counsel’s Early Care and Education Law Project (ECE Law Project) was established in 1986 to increase child care capacity in low-income communities and to improve the quality of care. With the help of pro bono attorneys, ECE Law Project provides free legal assistance to existing and/or prospective family child care providers and child care centers in a variety of ways. Olivarez Madruga is proud to have Lloyd Pilchen among the twenty-four honorees.
