Los Angeles County to enter into Orange Tier Effective April 5, 2021

On March 30, 2021, the California Department of Public Health declared that the County of Los Angeles will move into the Blueprint for Safer Economy, Orange Tier. As a result, the Los Angeles County Health Officer advised that a new Health Department Order will be issued on Friday, April 2, 2021, to take effect on Monday, April 5, 2021, allowing for more businesses to reopen.

REOPENINGS PERMITTED EFFECTIVE APRIL 5, 2021

As the County of Los Angeles moves into the less restricted Orange Tier, the following will be permitted:

  • Bars:
    • Permitted to resume outdoor operations without requiring patrons to order meals.
    • Masks are required at all times except when eating or drinking.
    • Required to set tables 8 feet apart, with maximum of 6 people per table from up to 3 different households.
    • No counter seating/service will be allowed.
    • Patrons may only drink or eat while seated.
    • Live entertainment will not be permitted.
    • Hours of operation will be limited to 11:30 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.
  • Breweries, Wineries and Distilleries:
    • May operate outdoor and indoor at 25% capacity or 100 people, whichever is fewer.
    • Will not require that meals be provided.
    • Masks are required at all times except when eating or drinking.
    • No counter seating/service will be allowed.
    • Patrons may only drink or eat while seated.
    • Tables must be 8 feet apart.
      • When offering indoor seating, patrons are limited to a maximum of 6 individuals per table from 1 household. Additionally, reservations are required with 90-minute limits per table.
      • When offering outdoor seating, patrons are limited to a maximum of 6 individuals per table from up to 3 different households.
    • Live entertainment will not be permitted.
    • Television viewing is permitted outdoors only.
    • Hours of operation will be limited to 11:30 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.
  • Restaurants:
    • Indoor capacity will be increased to 50% or 200 people, whichever is less, with appropriate modifications to accompany the capacity increase.
  • Cardrooms:
    • Permitted to resume indoor operations at 25% capacity.
    • 8 feet distancing between tables and masks will be required at all times.
    • Food and beverages continue to be prohibited at the tables.
  • Places of Worship:
    • Indoor capacity will be permitted to increase to 50% with proper safety modifications.
  • Fitness Centers:
    • Indoor capacity may increase to 25% with indoor pools allowed to reopen.
  • Movie Theatres:
    • Will be allowed to increase to 50% capacity or 200 people, whichever is less.
    • Reserved seating is still required, with each group sitting at least 6 feet apart in all directions.
    • Eating will only be allowed in designated areas or while the patrons are seated.
  • Entertainment Centers, such as Bowling Alleys:
    • May resume indoor activities at 25% capacity, with masks required.
  • Grocery Stores:
    • Permitted to allow up to 75% capacity, however it is strongly recommended that 50% capacity continue until April 15, 2021.
  • Hair Salons/Barbershops/Personal Care Services:
    • May increase indoor capacity to 75%.
    • Masks will be required at all times except for services that require mask removal, at which point staff must wear a fitted N95 mask, or a mask and a face shield.
  • Museums, Zoos, Aquariums:
    • May increase indoor capacity to 50%.
  • Youth and Adult Recreational Sports:
    • Application approval will be required for athletic events, tournaments or competitions that involve more than two teams or multiple individuals.
