OMLO congratulates United States Congressman Darren Soto of Florida, on his recognition of the NALEO Edward R. Roybal Award for Outstanding Public Service. The award is a highlight of the National Association of Latino Elected and Appointed Officials (NALEO) 2024 Edward R. Roybal Legacy Celebration, and recognizes Congressman Soto for his years of public service, as a member of the Florida State House of Representatives, and as the first congressman of Puerto Rican descent elected to represent Florida, in which capacity he has served since 2016.
From NALEO: “Over the course of his career, Soto has championed clean energy, veterans’ benefits, Puerto Rico disaster recovery, and major infrastructure projects across Central Florida. He serves on the House Energy and Commerce and Natural Resources Committees, where he focuses on jobs, technology, healthcare, and protecting Florida’s environment.”
“Established in 1996 and presented annually, this award honors individuals who have distinguished themselves as devoted public servants to the nation and pays tribute to the organization’s founder and President Emeritus, the late Congressman Edward R. Roybal.”
