OMLO is pleased to announce that Tom Madruga has been selected to the Los Angeles and San Francisco Daily Journal’s coveted “Top 100” list. The annual supplement spotlights 100 leading attorneys in California and highlights their accomplishments over the past year. Tom was recognized for his successful representation of the Compton Unified School District in the groundbreaking litigation case of Smith v. Regents of the University of California, which challenged the use of the SAT and ACT admissions exams in the state public school system. The Journal also highlighted Tom’s representation of defendants in the class action lawsuit of Martinez v. Newsom, which alleged that California special education students were deprived of their educational rights due to pandemic restrictions.
“Everyone’s rights were tabled somewhat because the need to keep people healthy trumped other rights for a time,” Tom said of the suit.
