OMLO’s Founding and Managing Partner Rick R. Olivarez was recently interviewed for the Authority Magazine series “5 Things You Need To Create Or Lead A Successful Law Firm,” which asks legal leaders for insight on how to succeed in the business side of law.
In the interview, Rick describes what it was like founding a firm shortly after the 2008 recession and how he balances running a leading firm of more than 30 attorneys with his own substantial workload. “Being a lawyer and a business owner are complementary roles,” he shares, noting that “if you are a good lawyer and people trust you, that translates well into leading a successful business.”
Rick’s advice for individuals looking to create a successful firm includes being focused on hiring strong team members; leading by example; treating employees well; listening to clients; and a reminder that “good old-fashioned hard work never goes out of style.”
