Olivarez Madruga Law Organization (OMLO) is pleased to announce that Senior Associate Susie Altamirano of the firm’s municipal practice group was recently appointed to the Los Angeles Latino Chamber of Commerce (LALCC), one of the Los Angeles area’s foremost proponents for Latino business owners and economic growth in Latino communities.
A passionate advocate for Latino communities, Susie serves as the City Attorney for the City of La Puente, Assistant City Attorney for the City of Bell Gardens, and Deputy City Attorney for El Monte, Cudahy and San Fernando. She is also a member of the Mexican American Bar Association and the City Attorney Association of Los Angeles County.
Susie was recently featured in an Above The Law piece on diversity and inclusion at OMLO, which highlighted her connection to the communities she represents.
“What is unique about the role in the communities we serve is historically, it is uncommon to see a Latina as the City Attorney, let alone a Latina City Attorney who also lives in or has family in the communities we represent, shops at the same markets, votes in same elections, and are impacted by the same laws,” Altamirano told Above the Law. “We understand the implications of legal and policy decisions from a point of view that is not often acknowledged at the decision-making level.”
