Dr. Kathryn “KT” Schellenberg Bell is an attorney whose practice has focused on civil litigation, education law, disability rights, employment matters, family advocacy, and institutional accountability. Dr. Schellenberg Bell has represented and advised individuals, families, schools, and organizations in matters involving disability accommodations, retaliation, wrongful termination, educational access, student support services, and systemic advocacy.
Dr. Schellenberg Bell has managed and handled all aspects of litigation and pre-litigation advocacy, including factual investigation, pleadings, written discovery, mediation strategy, settlement negotiations, demand preparation, expert coordination, and case resolution. Her experience includes both plaintiff-side and defense-side matters, providing her with a broad understanding of litigation strategy, institutional operations, risk evaluation, and dispute resolution. She has also defended large institutional clients, including school districts, hospitals, and other organizations, in employment, education, liability, and compliance-related matters.
For more than fifteen years, Dr. Schellenberg Bell consulted with the George Lucas Educational Foundation regarding disability, education, advocacy, and the intersection of law and educational systems. Her work included advising on educational equity, inclusion practices, family engagement, and strategies to support students with diverse learning and support needs.
Dr. Schellenberg Bell also served as a speaker and consultant, presenting nationally to schools, organizations, educational institutions, and professional groups on topics including disability inclusion, hidden disabilities, educational advocacy, employment issues, systems navigation, and accessible design.
In addition to her legal practice, Dr. Schellenberg Bell has researched and taught in the areas of education, disability, and the law, with a particular focus on educational access, institutional systems, disability support services, and advocacy for students with disabilities.
