Dr. Stephen Nellman, Superintendent of Centinela Valley Union High School District, and OMLO Partner Christine Hsu will speak in a session titled “Controversial Topics and Educator Rights: Guidance for Administrators,” part of the Association of California School Administrators (ACSA) Lead With Pride Summit, May 3-5 at the Town and Country Resort in San Diego. The session will explore the nuances of dealing with conflicting ideologies when controversial topics are raised in schools, navigating the delicate handling of such topics while protecting the rights of educators. Participants will examine case studies and discuss best practices for fostering open communication, creating inclusive classrooms, and meeting legal obligations while promoting respectful dialogue and understanding.
The session will take place Thursday, May 4, from 8:30am to 10:00am.
